John Henry Brodhead was born in Washington, New Jersey in 1898.[1] He attended West Chester State Normal school in Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1919.[2]

From Temple University, he received a PhD in educational psychology.[3]
He was employed as a teacher and a principal in the school system of Philadelphia[4] He also became principal of one of the largest schools in Pennsylvania.[5]
He was president of the American Teacher Association, the Association of Pennsylvania Educational Association, and the new era Educational.[6]
